Description

The Moorabool Falls Trail at Lal Lal Falls Reserve offers a different perspective of Lal Lal Falls from views of the gorge wall that is not accessible from the picnic area.

Lal Lal Falls Reserve contains three waterfalls: Lal Lal Falls, Moorabool Falls, and Granite Falls. The reserve has a large grassy area, playground, picnic tables, toilets, and an undercover area. Lal Lal Falls can be accessed from a short 200m walk to a viewing platform or from the longer Von Guerard View Track. The walking track down to the base of the falls is closed off. The picnic area at Lal Lal Falls Reserve is equipped with excellent visitor facilities.

The Moorabool Falls is located on the Moorabool River West Branch, adjacent to the north-west corner of the Lal Lal Reserve. Access to the falls is prohibited, but visitors can see the top of the waterfall from a viewing platform. The best view of the waterfall is from a bench seat downstream.

The Lal Lal Falls Reserve offers a lot to visitors, including a picnic area with excellent facilities, a playground, and lots of grassy space. The reserve is popular for bushwalking and bird watching.

The best time to visit Lal Lal Falls Reserve is during winter and spring when there is a reliable flow of water. The falls can dry up in summer/autumn. It is best to avoid late morning on sunny days at the viewing platform.

The Lal Lal Falls Reserve is located off Harris Road, Lal Lal, 120 km west of Melbourne CBD. Visitors can exit the Western Fwy (M8) at Ballan, head south and then west along the Ballan-Egerton Rd to Egerton. Then continue west along the Yendon-Egerton
