Description
Mount Elliot is located in Bowling Green Bay National Park in Queensland, Australia.
It is a 1,342 m high mountain covered with forests, creeks, and waterfalls. Alligator Creek, the most important creek on Mount Elliot's eastern slopes, is a popular swimming spot. The park also includes the floodplains of the Haughton River, which features one of the largest wetlands on the east coast of Australia. The wetland is home to a variety of bird species, making it a great destination for bird watchers.
In terms of fauna, the park is home to many bird species, including the brolga, magpie goose, and jabiru. Reptile enthusiasts can find a significant population of crocodiles in the estuarine and swamp areas of the park.
The only camping facility available in the park is the Alligator Creek campground. Bush camping is permitted at Cape Bowling Green.
