Located in Mount Gambier in the south east corner of South Australia, Mountain Loop Trail is an 11.1-km loop trail that offers a challenging yet enjoyable outdoor experience.
It is perfect for hiking, walking, or running and is open year-round for visitors to explore. The trail offers a wide range of activities suitable for all types of adventurers. Although considered challenging, it is still popular with walkers, runners, and hikers. The hike up to the Centenary Tower is the most arduous part of the trail, with steep and exposed sections along the way. The trail features beautiful lookouts that provide breathtaking views of the winding path and surroundings, making it an ideal spot for photography. There is also a visitor information centre where helpful staff can provide insights about other natural spaces to check out in the area. The trail is open year-round and is perfect to visit at any time of the year, with sunrise or sunset being the best times to go. To access the trail, head to the Valley Lakes Playground where parking is available. The trail has a length of 11.1km and an elevation gain of 412m. It is suitable for hiking, walking, and running.
