Description
Mrs York's Garden is a beautifully recreated headland garden situated in Port Macquarie, overlooking the river mouth.
The garden was recreated in 2015 by the Friends of Mrs York's Garden. The area has been transformed into a natural habitat comprising native littoral rainforest and coastal headland species, creating an attractive leisure space to be enjoyed by both locals and visitors.
The garden is an excellent destination for admiring native species, enjoying exercise or recreation or finding solace in the tranquil natural environment. The boat-themed picnic shelters make an ideal location to relax and enjoy the stunning views in all directions towards the pristine coastline or the passing whale pods.
A walk along Mrs York's Walk takes visitors from the town centre through the newly restored waterfall area over the boardwalk and through the bushland corridor to connect the Coastal Walk at Town Beach, or to follow the pathway to Gaol Point. Along the way, there are many surprises to discover that make the walk extremely interesting. The pathway's newly completed viewing platform, boardwalks and sensory garden have appropriately increased the accessibility of the garden, making it a haven for all to enjoy both on foot or in a wheelchair.
Visitors can enjoy the garden at any time of the year, each has its unique charm.
Mrs York's Garden is conveniently situated in the middle of Port Macquarie, making it easy to find, and with ample parking space, it's an ideal spot to stop for a break from your daily routine.
