Description
Murray Falls is a stunning cascade waterfall located in the Girramay National Park in Queensland, Australia.
It is situated in the UNESCO-listed Wet Tropics in Murray Upper, Cassowary Coast Region in the Far North region of Queensland. The waterfall cascades down between 20-30 meters (66-98 ft) and is only about 38 kilometres (24 mi) southwest of Tully.
Visitors can view the magnificent Murray Falls from a boardwalk and viewing platform. The boardwalk allows for a closer look at the beautiful waterfall, while the viewing platform provides an ideal spot for capturing breathtaking photos.
In addition to the waterfall, Murray Falls offers a walking trail through the rainforest. This trail allows visitors to have a closer encounter with the plants and animals of the rainforest. At the end of the trail, there is a lookout where visitors can see the falls and the Murray Valley.
The Murray River and the falls are named after John Murray, a British colonial Native Police officer. This river system and waterfall have become famous landmarks in Australia.
The Cardwell district, where Murray Falls is located, is home to other stunning waterfalls. Some of these include Wallaman Falls, Blencoe Falls, and Attie Creek Falls.
In the year ended 2012, an estimated 31,500 visitors marveled at the wonders of Murray Falls.
