Description
Celebrate NAIDOC Week at the Museum of Geraldton as we recognise the history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.
Explore the stunning artworks and moving commentary of Pila Nguru: Art and song from the Spinifex People, an exhibition offering a unique opportunity to contemplate the depth and cultural range of traditional connection to Country.
After discovering the exhibition, visitors of all ages will enjoy these free activities as we reflect on this year's theme 'Keep the fire burning! Blak, loud and proud.'
Activities
- Make a braided friendship band in iconic NAIDOC colours. Take your band home to wear proudly or give to a friend.
- Wajarri is the most widely spoken Aboriginal language in Geraldton, with a free dictionary available online. Adopt a wooden animal and learn its Wajarri name, then decorate it with bright colours.
- Take a closer look at the hundreds of Aboriginal and Islander nations around the country with our AIATSIS map. What nation’s land were you born on, and what nation’s land do you live on now?
