Description

Join Nalda, a glass bead maker at the ArtGeo Cultural Complex in Busselton and embrace both organic and precise design.

Nalda is a self taught glass bead maker (lampworker) and is currently a resident artist at the ArtGeo Cultural Complex in Busselton.

After 17 years of lampworking I'm still captivated by the glass bead. Nalda has strived to master new processes and love the new glass colours being developed by manufacturers from around the globe.

From the heat of the flame molten glass can be formed, and form, decorated. Dots can be layered and lines swirled. It's a dance of heat and gravity, pattern emerging, lustres coaxed, reactive colours changing and finally kiln annealing. As the cooled beads are cleaned and placed together on my finishing desk their potential is realised as collections come together in necklace or bracelet designs, pairs for earrings or individual singular pendant beads.

Nalda describes her jewellery collections as an emotional response to the beauty of colour and pattern. Her expression in glass embraces both organic and precise design.

The studio is an open welcoming space where glass beads are created and jewellery designed.  Nalda is often creating and is happy for people to watch the process.

Classes are held regularly so grab a friend and enjoy a beadmaking experience.   Limited to two people so easily organised if you and a friend are interested.
