North Bommie is a popular diving site located in the Great Barrier Reef at Heron Island, Queensland.

It offers a diverse range of marine life, including manta rays, turtles, stingrays, red emperor, gropers, batfish, reef sharks, and pelagic fish. The site is accessible to divers of all levels and consists of fish cleaning stations at depths of up to 20 meters.

At North Bommie, divers can enjoy close encounters with manta rays and explore the underwater bommies. Watching the manta rays being cleaned is a unique and incredible experience. The site is also perfect for macro enthusiasts, with opportunities to see and photograph pipefish, boxfish, nudibranchs, flatworms, blennies, gobies, and leaf scorpionfish.

The best time to visit North Bommie is during the Austral summer, from November to March. The water temperature ranges from 24°C to 30°C, and visibility is excellent during this period. To reach Heron Island, regular ferry services are available from Gladstone, with a journey time of approximately two hours. From the Heron Island boat jetty, North Bommie can be accessed by boat in just a few minutes. Visitors can book diving tours or rent diving equipment from the travel agencies on the island.
