The challenging conditions of the Southern banks of the Kawarau River, which experience harsh winters, hot summers, and long autumns, have led to consistently superb wines, worldwide recognition, and an avalanche of international awards. Over ten vintages, Bannock Brae’s Central Otago Pinot Noir has been awarded more than 20 Gold medals and ‘Champion Wine of the Show’ in NZ wine competitions.

The vineyard is located in the Gibbston area of Queenstown, which is one of the most scenic wine-growing areas in New Zealand. The vineyards at Bannock Brae are sandwiched between rugged mountains and the rocky Kawarau River gorge. The area is subject to cold winters, hot dry summers, and a huge night-to-day temperature range.
