Description

The National Kiwi Hatchery, located at Rainbow Springs Nature Park in Rotorua, New Zealand, is the most successful kiwi hatchery in the world.

It is the national leader in kiwi husbandry, egg incubation systems, hatching techniques, and kiwi chick rearing. The hatchery is home to the world's largest and most successful kiwi hatching center.

The hatchery offers a truly unique and educational experience for visitors of all ages, providing an unforgettable insight into their internationally renowned conservation program. Visitors can take a guided tour of the hatchery to see real kiwi conservation in action. During hatching season, which runs from September to March, visitors can witness kiwi eggs being incubated, the hatching process, and newly hatched kiwi chicks. The tour also offers an opportunity to learn about New Zealand's national icon, the kiwi, and what it takes to hatch a chick.

The National Kiwi Hatchery tour costs $50 per adult, and child prices are available. Every Kiwi Hatchery tour booked is a 100% donation to the kiwi hatching program. Visitors can also become a kiwi chick sponsor and help the hatchery save kiwi. Each kiwi chick that is born at the National Kiwi Hatchery is special and named by their sponsors. Visitors can add their name to the kiwi wall of fame by becoming a kiwi chick sponsor. The hatchery is open every day, but bookings are essential, and visitors are encouraged to book 48 hours in advance to secure their spot.
