Johanneshof Cellars: Discover New Zealand's First Underground Rock Cellar
Johanneshof Cellars, a small boutique winery, was established in 1991 by German-born fifth-generation winemaker Edel Everling and New Zealander Warwick Foley.
Situated in Marlborough, New Zealand, Johanneshof Cellars is a unique must-visit destination in the region.
The winery offers a conducted tour of New Zealand's first underground rock cellar, located 20 meters below the surface of the 'Maybern' vineyard. The tour provides visitors with an opportunity to learn about the traditional method of creating sparkling wines by fermentation in the bottle and hand riddling on wooden A-frames from Champagne.
