The Institute of Awesome (Karioi Lodge)

The Institute of Awesome, also known as Karioi Lodge, is an eco-lodge and education center located in Raglan, New Zealand.

Situated on 110 acres of native New Zealand bush at the foot of Mount Karioi, the lodge offers a tranquil and secluded environment. Accommodation options include dorm-style bunk rooms for up to 60 people and private double rooms. The rooms are furnished beautifully and equipped with comfortable beds, as well as hairdryers and hair straighteners in the bathrooms.

As a not-for-profit eco-lodge and education center, The Institute of Awesome aims to make the world a better place through education and technology. Specializing in ecology, education, technology, environmental preservation, and outdoor adventure, the lodge offers a range of amenities such as equipped kitchens, powered campervan sites, lazy hammocks, sun decks, mountain bike hire, glow worms, pool table and ping pong, BBQs, computer access and Wi-Fi, and a 42” plasma satellite TV.

The Institute of Awesome provides custom experiences that include accommodation, meals, entertainment, guest speakers, and facilitation. Each retreat booked sponsors a group of schools to stay and work on building projects. The lodge also hosts Adventure Camps, Backpackers, and Team Building events.
