Description

Tohu Wines: Capturing the Unique Flavors of New Zealand's Nelson and Marlborough Wine Regions Tohu Wines is a Maori-owned winery located in the heart of New Zealand's wine regions of Nelson and Marlborough.

It was established in 1998 as the first Maori-owned wine company. Tohu Wines' philosophy is to protect and respect their land, instilling practices that would benefit future generations of winemakers while capturing the unique flavors of each region's environment.

Award-Winning Wines and Sustainable Winegrowing Practices

Tohu Wines is committed to sustainable winegrowing practices, championing water conservation and reducing fossil fuel use to aid preservation of the environment. It is no surprise that their vineyards and Winemaking facility are certified via Sustainable Winegrowing New Zealand. The winery offers a range of award-winning wines that capture the essence of the region. Their wines include Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, and Riesling.

Tohu Wines offers more than just award-winning wines. The winery is part of a family business, guided by Maori culture and traditions that have been passed down for generations. Visitors seeking to learn about the history of the Maori people, their farming and fishing practices, and the connection between the land and the sea can immerse themselves in the rich Maori culture. You can learn the values that guide the winemaking practices: Rangatiratanga, excellence; Kaitiakitanga, guardianship; and Manaakitanga, kindness.
