Last Light Lodge

Last Light Lodge is a relaxed hotel located in Tuatapere, Southland, New Zealand.

The lodge offers comfortable accommodation with 21 private rooms and a camping ground. The rooms are simply decorated and offer access to communal bathroom facilities with a coin-operated shower for NZD 2 per 3 minutes. The lodge is set in beautiful native gardens and offers guests access to private gardens, communal kitchen, shared seating area with a TV, and free Wi-Fi. The lodge is closed from the 24th of April until the 15th of October 2023.

The Last Light Lodge is located on the scenic Southern Road, ideally set for visits to the Hump Ridge Track. The property is 1 hour's drive from Invercargill and 3 hours' drive from Milford Sound. The lodge is surrounded by mountains, rainforest, rivers, bush, and farmland, making it a perfect place to relax and enjoy nature. The lodge is also a departure point for the Hump Ridge Track, which is a popular hiking trail in the area.

The lodge's restaurant offers delicious meals made with produce from their organic gardens, which caters for in-house guests only. Guests can also purchase fresh vegetables and fruits from the gardens at the cafe and have access to herb gardens nearby the communal kitchen. The lodge is pet-friendly, and pets are allowed on the property.

Craig Rutland bought Last Light Lodge in 2010 and has been renovating it ever since.
