Description
Oporto Newtown is a fast-food restaurant located in Newtown, New South Wales, Australia.
The restaurant is part of the Oporto franchise, which specializes in Portuguese-style chicken and burgers. The first Oporto restaurant was founded in 1986 by António Cerqueira, an Australian of Portuguese descent, in North Bondi, New South Wales, Australia, but was originally named Portuguese Style Bondi Charcoal Chicken. The 'Oporto' name came from Cerqueira's favorite football team, FC Porto. The restaurant is known for its flame-grilled chicken, which is marinated in a blend of Mexican spices and then roasted in the oven or grilled. The menu also includes burgers, wraps, salads, and sides such as chips and coleslaw. One of the signature dishes is the Bondi Burger, which consists of a flame-grilled chicken fillet, lettuce, cheese, mayo, and Oporto's famous chilli sauce. Oporto Newtown has a casual and relaxed atmosphere, with indoor and outdoor seating available. The restaurant is decorated with bright colors and features a mural of a Portuguese street scene on one of the walls. The venue is suitable for families, groups of friends, and individuals looking for a quick and tasty meal.
