Description

Panboola Wetlands in Pambula is a thriving natural environment covering 77 hectares of freshwater billabongs, salt marsh, and grassy plains.

It offers a unique escape from the bustling town, with activities such as walking and cycling tracks, birdwatching, and wildlife observation. The wetlands also feature viewing platforms, tables, seats, and informational panels.

The wetlands share their border with the Ben Boyd National Park and other coastal wetlands, providing a diverse offering of wildlife and habitats. In 2019, Panboola Wetlands launched the Ephemeral Festival, a biennial celebration of arts, creativity, and nature. The festival features art installations, music, workshops, craft demonstrations, and stalls.

The best time to visit Panboola Wetlands is during the warmer months between October and April when the diverse range of wildlife is active. The wetlands are easily accessible from the Pambula village, with options for transportation including buses, bike trails, and walking paths. There is parking available for cars and bikes on-site.
