Description

Located in the Eyre Peninsula, Pildappa Rock is a must-see destination for those travelling in the area.

The rock offers visitors a spectacular sight, with the highest and longest wave formations in the region, rivaling the famous Wave Rock in Western Australia.

Pildappa Rock boasts two picnic areas on the northern and southern sides of the rock, showcasing the highest waves in the area. Visitors can take in the stunning views of surrounding farmland, as well as an unbroken view of the Gawler Ranges and Blue Sturts to the north. For those interested in natural rock formations, the south-eastern end has long waves with platforms.

The rock is also renowned for its deep gnamma holes, which ensure a virtually permanent water supply. Like many granite outcrops throughout Australia, Pildappa Rock has an elaborate gutter system surrounding its base. This provides visitors with a unique opportunity to observe some magnificent natural water features. The rock is open all year round, but it's best to check weather conditions before making the trip, especially during summer when temperatures can soar.

Pildappa Rock is located in Minnipa, around 430km west of Adelaide. Visitors travelling from Adelaide can take a scenic drive along Highway A1, which takes approximately 5 hours. Alternatively, visitors travelling from Perth can take the National Route 1, which takes approximately 29 hours to reach Pildappa Rock.
