Description

Pinky Flat is a spacious park located on the north side of the Torrens River in Adelaide.

The park is close to the Morphett St Bridge and adjacent to the Adelaide Oval. It is named after the Pingka bilby, a small marsupial once common in the area.

Visitors can enjoy the river and scenic views by strolling through the park or taking a river cruise. Paddle boats are available for hire, and there is a BBQ area with electronic barbeques on the east side of the park. The park's large open spaces make it ideal for picnics, games, outdoor activities, or simply enjoying the views.

Pinky Flat is open all year round, but the best time to visit is during the summer months from December to February. The park offers a pleasant experience during autumn and spring as well, but visitors should be mindful of cooler temperatures. Winter months from June to August can be quite chilly.

Pinky Flat is easily accessible by car or public transport. Visitors can travel to the flat via train or tram from the Adelaide central railway station. Limited metered parking is also available near the park.

Pinky Flat is located in the Adelaide Park Lands, which is significant to the living Kaurna people today. The Kaurna people originally occupied the area known as Karra Wirra Parri and relied on the abundant food sources from the river and surrounding land. The cultural significance of Tarndanyungga Kaurna Yerta, the Red Kangaroo Dreaming place, includes Pinky Flat. The Park Lands should be preserved and culturally significant sites protected.
