Description

The Pioneer Memorial Gardens in Waikerie were established in 1977 to honor the pioneering families of the district.

They are located at 12 Gray St, Waikerie, South Australia.

Apart from being a memorial site, the gardens also contain a piece of Waikerie's unique history. They are home to an early pumping station engine that powered the irrigation district of Waikerie. Guests can see this impressive piece of engineering in-person while exploring the gardens. Additionally, guests can walk along the tree line on the eastern side of the gardens to find part of the historical 125-foot irrigation channel.

The Pioneer Memorial Gardens Waikerie is open to the public all year round. The gardens are accessible by car, located just a few minutes from the Waikerie town center. If you're coming from Adelaide, the journey takes about 2.5 hours, covering a distance of approximately 180 kilometers via the National Highway A20. Once you reach Waikerie, take Gray Street; the Pioneer Memorial Gardens are located on the corner of Gray Street and D Channel Road.

The Pioneer Memorial Gardens are a fascinating destination, offering visitors a bit of history set in a serene garden environment. If you're interested in the history of the Waikerie district, then the Pioneer Memorial Gardens should definitely be on your list of places to visit.
