It is situated on the eastern edge of the Northern Tablelands in the New England region of New South Wales, Australia. This mesmerizing mountain has an altitude of 1,564 metres (5,131 ft) above sea level, making it the second highest peak in the region. The stunning environment allows for relaxing and scenic picnics amidst the natural beauty of the mountain.

A ten-minute walk south of the escarpment leads to Banksia Point, where visitors can find a number of cozy cabins and a hut for hire. These accommodating spaces are available from the National Parks and Wildlife Service for short term stays in the park.
