Description

Port Kembla Beach is a prestigious coastal destination in Wollongong, located about 11 kilometres south of the city's CBD.

It is known for its stunning scenery, white sands, and crystal-clear waters, making it perfect for swimming and surfing.

The beach has a rich history, with the surf club being established in 1910 and bathing starting in the 1900s. It is the longest beach in the Wollongong area, measuring 6.6 kilometres, and offers breathtaking views from the high foredune where the surf club is located.

Facilities at Port Kembla Beach include a large car park for easy parking, a large Olympic pool at the northern rocks for controlled swimming, and lifeguards patrolling the beach from September to April for safety.

While the beach itself is not dog-friendly, there is an off-leash area for dogs south of the Surf Life Saving Club, allowing dog owners to enjoy a stroll on the beach with their furry friends.

The best time to visit Port Kembla Beach is between November and March when the weather is warm and sunny. Getting to Port Kembla Beach is easy by car, taking the M1 south from Wollongong and following the signs to the beach. Public transport options are also available for visitors without cars.
