Description
Located approximately 30 kilometers south of Mackay, the Port of Hay Point is considered one of the largest and most efficient coal ports worldwide.
The Port Administration building offers an impressive public viewing gallery that provides visitors with panoramic views of the two coal terminals.
The primary attraction at Port Of Hay Point Lookout is the two coal terminals: the Dalrymple Bay Coal Terminal and Hay Point Services Coal Terminal. Independent operators manage each terminal, and they feature rail unloading equipment, stockpiles, stacking machines and reclaiming equipment, conveyors and ship loaders on off-shore wharves. Together, they serve the mines of Central Queensland, which are connected to the port terminals through an integrated rail-port network. Both terminals feature in-loading facilities, on-shore stockpile yards and off-shore wharves.
In addition to the remarkable views of the coal terminals, you can spend time in the public viewing gallery, reading the informative panels and learning about the history of the terminals and the port's importance to the region.
The lookout is open to the public, free of charge, every day of the year. The facilities are open from 8 am to 4 pm. Guests are reminded to check the local weather conditions and dress properly accordingly.
The Port of Hay Point Lookout is located 30 kilometers south of Mackay. Visitors can easily access the location by car, taxi or bus on Hay Point Road. The facility provides ample parking for cars and buses, and the lookout is easily accessible, even for people
