Description
Rye Front Beach is a popular year-round destination located in the heart of Rye.
It offers a variety of shops and is especially busy during the holiday season. The beach is ideal for strolls and attracts kite surfers during the cooler months due to the wind.
The beach stretches for about 4 km along the borders of Port Phillip Bay, near White Cliffs and a 300-meter-long pier at Rye. The foreshore reserve provides opportunities for camping, boat ramping, a yacht club, a playground, and leisurely walks.
With its beautiful white sand and clear water, Rye Front Beach is a great place for swimming, particularly for families. The beach generally offers a safe swimming experience with low waves near the shore, except during strong northerly winds. Snorkeling, scuba diving, and fishing are also popular activities, with anglers often seen on the pier. It's important to note that there are no lifeguards on duty, so caution should be exercised while swimming.
Visitors are allowed to bring dogs on a leash to Rye Front Beach between 7:00 pm and 9:00 am, except during daylight savings.
Rye Front Beach is easily accessible by car via Nepean Highway or by bus along Point Nepean Road. Its location in the Rye township also makes it convenient to reach on foot. It's recommended to plan your visit according to the weather and expect higher crowds during peak season and community events. Whether you're a local or a tourist, Rye Front Beach offers a perfect destination to enjoy the seaside air.
