Savina Lane Wines

Located in Severnlea just off Back Creek Road, a few minutes drive south of Stanthorpe, Savina Lane Wines delight the palate and inspire the imagination.

The single vineyard wines are produced from five emerging varieties of wine grapes. They also grow some of the Granite Belt’s oldest Shiraz vines. A visit to Savina Lane’s beautiful cellar door is more than a wine tasting, it is a wine experience.

Savina Lane produces premium wines crafted from five emerging varieties of wine grapes – Fiano, Manseng, Tempranillo, Graciano and Montepulciano plus two plantings of Shiraz including one of the last heritage blocks of old vines on the Granite Belt. Viognier has recently been planted. Emerging varieties are those of which there are less than 1% of vines of that variety planted in Australia. On the Granite Belt, emerging varieties are known as Strange Bird varieties.

Survival was a close shave for some of these less common varieties: only 19 hectares of Graciano survived in Spain at the end of last century and around 37 hectares of Viognier in France after WWII.

Savina Lane wines are produced in a state-of-the-art contract winery at Ballandean on the Granite Belt in a combination of our own German-engineered stainless steel tanks and hand-made French Oak barrels

Once bottled and labelled, the wines are aged in optimum conditions in Savina Lane’s underground purpose-built cellar located beneath the cellar door. This cellar provides stable temperatures year round, avoiding the need for heating or cooling and ensuring the winery has a low carbon footprint.
