Description

Semaphore Beach Semaphore is a classic Adelaide beach escape located approximately 14km from Adelaide.

It offers crystal-clear waters, family-friendly shallows, and a colorful foreshore. The beach features a jetty for fishing, a small water slide and skate ramp, and undercover barbecues. It is accessible by car or train.

The wide sandy beach is perfect for all beachgoers, with activities such as swimming, sunbathing, and beach volleyball. The water around the jetty is calm and shallow, making it safe for young children to play with adult supervision. Semaphore also boasts a rich history, with many historical buildings along Semaphore Road and the Esplanade. Visitors can explore the oldest working carousel in the southern hemisphere, the Palais bathing pavilion (now the Semaphore Palais hotel), and beautifully preserved Art Deco buildings along the foreshore and boulevard. There are also various cafes and restaurants along Semaphore Road offering high-quality food.

The best time to visit Semaphore is during the summer months (December to February) when the weather is warm and sunny. To get to Semaphore, visitors can take a train on the Outer Harbor line and get off at Glanville station. There is plenty of car parking available all along the foreshore.
