Description

Candlagan Creek, located in Mossy Point, is a natural estuary known for its seagrass beds and protective mangroves.

It is a popular spot for families and children to visit in Eurobodalla. One of the best ways to explore Candlagan Creek is through snorkelling, where visitors can witness marine life hiding amongst the seagrass and mangroves. The creek is quite shallow and has a sandbar near its mouth, making it ideal for children to have fun in the water. Visitors must also be cautious of the strong and hazardous current, particularly during an outgoing tide, as well as sharp oysters attached to the rocks. The best time to visit Candlagan Creek for snorkelling is during the warmer months from December to March. To get there, turn off the Princes Highway at Mogo onto Tomakin Road, continue until the turn onto George Bass Drive, cross the Tomago River bridge, and turn left onto Annetts Parade. Continue on this road through Mossy Point until reaching Beach Road. Just before crossing the bridge over Candlagan Creek, a small car park is visible on the left. Visitors should park here and make their way across the bridge to the creek's shores to experience its beauty and serenity.
