Accessible from the Great Ocean Road, the lookout is located at the end of George Street, where visitors can park their cars and take a short walk of around 100 meters through the bush to reach the lookout platform.
The lookout provides an excellent opportunity for visitors to marvel at the scenic beauty of the Great Ocean Road. It's a perfect spot for capturing some unforgettable photos of the stunning St George River scenery. Also, visitors can explore the nearby Eucalyptus forest in the Great Otways National Park, just a short drive away from the St George River Lookout. Additionally, visitors can take a hike on the St George River Loop trail, located near Lorne, which takes around 1 hour and 27 minutes to complete on average.
While visiting St George River Lookout, visitors can also check out Teddy's Lookout, considered one of the best lookouts along the Great Ocean Road. Teddy's Lookout offers a bird's eye view of the Great Ocean Road that crosses the St George River and wraps around the Lorne Scenic Beach. Visitors can drive into Lorne and take one of the six right turns to make their way up to the lookout.
The best time to visit St George River Lookout and the Great Ocean Road is during the summer months, from December to February, when the weather is warm and sunny. It's also the busiest time of year, so visitors should expect crowds and plan accordingly. Spring and fall are excellent times to visit when the weather is mild, and the crowds are less.
