Steele Creek Trail

Tourist attractions

Keilor East, VIC 3033

Description

The Steele Creek Trail is a scenic shared-use path in the outer northwestern suburbs of Melbourne.

It passes through several suburbs and follows the path of Steele Creek. The trail is popular among cyclists and pedestrians due to its beautiful natural landscapes. Once completed, it will serve as a convenient shortcut between the Western Ring Road Trail and the Maribyrnong River Trail.

While the trail is not yet fully finished, most sections can still be traversed with some creativity. At the northern end of the trail, there is a busy road section at Keilor Rd and Woorite Pl, but navigation is straightforward for the rest of the trail.

The Steele Creek Trail connects with the Western Ring Road Trail in the north and the Maribyrnong River Trail in the south. The connection to the Maribyrnong River Trail was significantly improved in 2010 with the installation of an underpass under Buckley St. This underpass eliminates the need to deal with fast traffic at Buckley St and provides a direct link to the Maribyrnong River Trail.

The north end of the trail is located at 37.728836°S 144.862713°E? / -37.728836; 144.862713, while the south end is located at 37.753238°S 144.882435°E? / -37.753238; 144.882435. Cyclists and pedestrians are encouraged to enjoy the serene natural beauty of the Steele Creek Trail and take advantage of the convenient shortcut it offers between the Western Ring Road
