The lookout is situated nearby to the forest Open Space Covenant and the hamlet Waituna West. The lookout is a popular stop on the Stormy Point route, which begins at Feilding and is named after the hilltop lookout midway along that gives long views to Mts Taranaki and Ruapehu.
