Description

Located just 3.2km away from the heart of Byron Bay, Tallow Beach is an idyllic destination for nature lovers, a perfect blend of pristine nature, clear blue waters, and a laid-back atmosphere.

Tallow Beach is one of the longest stretches of beach in Australia, stretching over six kilometers between Cape Byron State Conservation Area and Broken Head Nature Reserve.

Tallow Beach offers numerous activities for visitors. Beach fishing is a popular pastime, with catches of different species like bream, tailor, and whiting. The beach is also a surfer's paradise, with the right tide offering fantastic waves. For nature enthusiasts, there is plenty to see along the beach. Keep an eye out for white-bellied sea eagles, ospreys, and peregrine falcons soaring overhead. You will also see pied oystercatchers and many more bird species wandering around the beach. There is an official bird hide located within the residential areas adjacent to the dunes, which provides visitors with a chance to spot more species while enjoying some privacy.

The best time to visit Tallow Beach depends on your preference. Summer is the peak season, and the beach can become quite crowded. During autumn and winter, you can expect fewer people, lower temperatures, and beautiful sunsets. Spring and winter are also the best times for whale watching. As the whales migrate between the Great Barrier Reef and Antarctica, you can spot them from the beach easily.

Tallow Beach is easily accessible by car, bike, or on foot. If you are driving, there is plenty of parking available at Cosy Corner. Visitors
