Description

Situated in the scenic hills of East Tamworth, in Victoria Park, adjacent to the Tamworth Regional Botanic Gardens at the top of Piper Street, Tamworth. With two 600 meter double gauge tracks (5 inch and 7¼ inch) in concentric circuits with 4-platform station and ticket office, 10 meter tunnel, steam docks with all services, sleeper loading and rolling stock storage.

An additional 400 meter Oxley Circuit includes an 18 meter Bailey Bridge and a second 10 meter tunnel. A secure workshop, locomotive store, signal box and club rooms complement the miniature railway and provide facilities for club meetings, storage of locomotives and equipment, and workshop equipment and facilities. The Picnic Pavilion offers indoor and outdoor seating and tables, as well as a BBQ grill to cater to the culinary needs of our young and old visitors. The Tamworth Miniature Railway was the first 280m oval track to be completed for service in April 2005. The tunnels were constructed from former Fielders metal grain elevators located in Sydney and then Tamworth. The Oxley Loop offers spectacular views of East Tamworth and the airport approximately 10km away and features a 60ft WWII Bailey Bridge....
