Description
Tasmanian Devil Unzoo Taranna is a groundbreaking zoo that offers a fresh alternative to the traditional zoo concept.
It is a zoo without cages, allowing Tasmanian bush animals to live freely in their natural habitat. Visitors can still interact with the animals and have a rare and intimate experience.
One of the best ways to experience Tasmanian Devil Unzoo Taranna is to join one of the expert guides on a nature walk. The walk takes you through easy-grade bushland trails where you can encounter various Tasmanian animals living in the wild. The zoo is also known for its Tasmanian devil conservation efforts. Visitors can participate in a devil feeding presentation to learn about the conservation work being done to protect the last natural and isolated population of devils in the world. Additionally, visitors can hand-feed forester kangaroos, meet wattlebirds, parrots, wallabies, echidnas, native fish, and nearly 100 bird species in the Unzoo bush garden.
Tasmanian Devil Unzoo Taranna is open every day of the year except for Christmas Day. The zoo is located in Taranna, about an hour's drive from Hobart on the way to Port Arthur on the Tasman Peninsula. Visitors can enjoy a scenic drive along the beautiful coastline while taking in the stunning natural scenery.
