Description

Tathra Beach Tathra is a stunning sandy beach located in the heart of the town.

It stretches northward to Mogareeka Inlet and the pristine Mimosa Rocks National Park, making it an ideal holiday destination for nature lovers. The bay is home to many seabirds, including the endangered Little Tern, and visitors can also see migrating whales during migration season. Wallabies and kangaroos frequently visit the beach in the morning, providing plenty of opportunities for wildlife watching. The beach extends 3 kilometers along the shoreline and is protected from southerly winds, making it ideal for surf, board riding, and sailboarding. It also offers beach wheelchairs with floats for visitors with disabilities. Just beside the beach, there is an all-abilities playground, perfect for a family day out. The Tathra Surf Life Saving Club, which has operated for more than 100 years, hosts major events including the biennial George Bass Marathon and the Tathra Wharf to Waves ocean swim event in January. The northern section of Tathra Beach Tathra houses the serene Mogareeka Inlet, featuring calm waters for paddleboarding, swimming, and fishing. Adventure lovers can enjoy over 55 kilometers of expertly-built, single track mountain bike trails in the hills surrounding the town, with the Kangarutha Track providing a fantastic coastal challenge. Tathra Beach Tathra is an all-year-round destination, with its notoriously excellent weather providing a long season for beach activities.
