Description

Telford Scrub Conservation Park is a protected area located in the Limestone Coast in South Australia.

It is situated in the locality of Dismal Swamp, approximately 14 kilometres from Mount Gambier. The park covers an area of 1.7 square kilometres and was proclaimed on March 12, 1987. It is named after the Telford family, its previous owners. Access to the park is available through a 5 metre-wide vehicle track within its boundaries.

The conservation park is home to various vegetation associations. These include an "open woodland" dominated by brown stringybark, which is spread throughout the park. Another association is found in the southern portion of the park, consisting of an "open woodland" dominated by swamp gum. Additionally, a "low open shrubland" dominated by tea-tree, heath tea-tree, sedges, and rushes can be found in the park.

Telford Scrub Conservation Park is known for its rich faunal population, which includes a population of short-nosed bandicoot. Visitors to the park typically include local residents, school groups, and guests staying at the Pine Lodge Holiday Camp.

The park is classified as an IUCN Category III protected area. It was described in 1992 as a series of sand ridges overlying limestone, with low-lying wetlands in the southern and eastern sections. The park is bordered by grazing lands on three sides and a pine plantation to the south of Grundy Lane. It remains an important protected area for the ecological balance of South Australia.
