Visitors can learn about Thundereggs and the proper techniques for looking and fossicking for them before heading to the mine atop the mountain with picks and buckets.

Thunderegg & Crystal Mine is a fun-filled experience for families, school groups, and vacation care groups. It provides adventure and learning for children and those looking to add some excitement to their vacation.
The mine operates throughout the year, except on Christmas Day, from 9:30 am to 3:30 pm. Each tour takes approximately one hour, and visitors should arrive a few minutes before their scheduled tour. Checking the weather conditions at the site before arriving is advised.
To get to Thunderegg & Crystal Mine, take the M1 northbound from the Gold Coast and exit at Oxenford (Exit 57). Turn right onto Tamborine Mountain Road and continue for about 25 kilometers. Turn right at the stop sign onto Gallery Walk Road, and after passing the clock tower on your left, turn left onto Eagle Heights Road. Drive for about a kilometer, and you will arrive at Thunderbird Park.
