Trevallyn Dam

Trevallyn Dam is a concrete gravity dam located on the South Esk River in Launceston, Tasmania, Australia.

It was constructed in 1955 as part of the Trevallyn Hydro Electric Scheme to provide water for hydroelectricity. The dam wall is 177 meters long and built on Dolerite bedrock, with a spillway height of 26.8 meters. Water is diverted to the Trevallyn Power Station through a 3.2 km tunnel, generating significant hydroelectric power for the region.

Lake Trevallyn, created by the damming of the South Esk River, has a surface area of 1.48 km² and a storage capacity of 12.33 million m³.
