Description

Valley of the Giants is a wilderness camping site located on the Fraser Island Great Walk.

It is nestled amidst the central dunes of Fraser Island, which is touted as the world's largest sand island. The Valley of the Giants is a perfect base for those who want to explore the island's natural grandeur.

After a day of trekking on the Fraser Island Great Walk, Valley of the Giants is an idyllic place to relax and unwind. A 12.4 km return side trail leads you deep into the heart of the forest, where you can witness the vastness of the ancient rainforest with massive tallowwood and satinay trees. Keep an eye out for the majestic ferns and wildflowers scattered throughout the lush greenery.

The Fraser Island Great Walk is generally open from 1 March to 31 October each year, and the best time to visit the Valley of the Giants is during this period. At other times, the walk might be closed to visitors due to extreme heat or forest fire risk.

The Valley of the Giants is easily accessible from various other points on the Fraser Island Great Walk. It is 16.2 km north of Lake Wabby walkers' camp and 13.1 km south of Lake Garawongera walkers' camp. Visitors can also reach the site from a minor Fraser Island Great Walk access track at the southern section of the Winnam camping area in Beach camping zone 3.
