Verandah Cave Lidster is a natural wonder located near Orange, offering a closer connection with nature.
The hike towards Verandah Cave is a scenic walk through the bush, providing an opportunity to see native wildlife and trees. After hiking for an hour, visitors are greeted by a breathtaking sight: a large limestone overhang sheltering several natural pools of water. The cave's natural cover also makes it an excellent location for a picnic. The best time to visit is during spring and early summer when the water pools are filled and the scenery is at its peak. To get there, visitors can take a 3.5-kilometer hike along Boree Creek trail starting from the Borenore picnic area, which is approximately a 25-minute drive from Orange. It is recommended to carry sunscreen, a hat, water, and insect repellent during the summer months.
