Located in Warrumbungle National Park, the Wambelong Nature Track is a popular travel destination for wildlife and nature enthusiasts visiting Coonabarabran, Australia.

The track is easy and short, making it ideal for wildlife and birdwatching. Visitors can spot koalas, kangaroos, and emus while hiking along the track, or they can relax in the shade at Camp Wambelong, near the Canyon picnic area. The track rises steeply with an awe-inspiring vista of the valley and Split Rock, offering spectacular views of the ancient landscape in Warrumbungle National Park. Birdwatching opportunities are also available along the track, as it is a haven for birdlife.

The Canyon picnic area is the starting point of the track and offers visitors a chance to enjoy a picnic before or after their hike. The area is surrounded by eucalyptus trees and has picnic tables, toilets, and barbecue facilities.

The best time to visit Wambelong Nature Track is during the cooler months of the year, from March to November. The temperature drops below freezing at night during winter, creating a magical experience of stargazing, and in summer, it's generally hot in the daytime, with temperatures often exceeding 30C. Visitors should also be aware that rainfall is highly variable, ranging from drought to flooding.

To get to Wambelong Nature Track, visitors should travel along John Renshaw Parkway from Coonabarabran. Upon entering the park, take the turn-off to the visitor centre and continue along the road to Canyon picnic area. Parking is available at Canyon picnic area. The Warrumbungle NP Visitor Information Centre is open from 9 am to 4 pm daily,
