Welford National Park

Welford National Park is located in Central West Queensland, Australia, 991 km west of Brisbane.

It was established in 1994 to protect the biodiversity of the Mulga Lands, Mitchell Grass Downs, and Channel Country bioregions. The park is named after Richard Welford, the original owner of the grazing station on which it stands. Welford Homestead, a heritage-listed homestead built in the early 1880s, is a prime example of the region's history and heritage. The park is home to the rare yellow-footed rock-wallaby and features aboriginal stone arrangements and water wells. Camping is permitted with a permit, and recreational activities such as fishing, canoeing, and kayaking can be enjoyed along the Barcoo River. Three tourist drives offer visitors the chance to explore the park's unique ecosystems.
