Renowned for its magnificent waterholes surrounded by paperbarks and rushes, the forest offers a serene and ethereal landscape. It is home to a range of forest communities, including rainforest, eucalypt forest, woodland, and exotic pine plantations. The crowning glory of the forest is Lenthalls Dam, which serves as the water supply for Fraser Coast Regional Council. The forest also offers a beautiful campground by the banks of the Burrum River, where visitors can camp in tents, caravans, camper trailers, or motor homes. Dogs are permitted on a leash. In addition to camping, visitors can enjoy bushwalking, canoeing, and kayaking in the forest. To access the campground, visitors can take the Bruce Hwy north of Maryborough or Maryborough Biggenden Rd.
