Description
Wool Bay Jetty is located in the small seaside town of Wool Bay on the Yorke Peninsula in South Australia.
The town was a port for exporting wool, grain, and lime, and visitors can still see the remains of lime kilns on the cliff top. Wool Bay offers sandy beaches, moderate year-round weather, and great fishing.
One of the main attractions in Wool Bay is the Wool Bay Jetty, where visitors can enjoy a casual stroll and go fishing, particularly for squid. The jetty is known for its high squid catch rate, as evidenced by the squid ink found along the walk. Facilities such as toilets, a boat ramp, and car parking can be found at the base of the remains of a lime kiln built in 1907.
The best time to visit Wool Bay is during the summer months when the weather is warm and sunny.
To reach Wool Bay, visitors can drive from Adelaide, which takes approximately three hours. Alternatively, they can take a bus or train to the nearby town of Maitland and then arrange for a taxi or car hire to get to Wool Bay.
