Description

Woonona Beach is a popular beach located between the Wollongong suburbs of Woonona and Bellambi.

The northern part of the beach stretches out to the elevated rock platform that features a large rock pool, perfect for admiring the scenic views. The southern part of the beach belongs to Bellambi Beach, which boasts a small lagoon and reserve. Woonona Beach area features holiday apartments, cafes, a grassy oval and the Woonona Surf Lifesaving Club. It is located approximately 20 minutes from the centre of Wollongong, making it a sought-after destination for both locals and visitors.

Woonona Beach offers plenty of opportunities to soak up the sun, swim in the ocean, and explore the rock pools. Visitors can also indulge in surfing as the beach's northern end is known for good surfing conditions with waves averaging 1-1.5 metres. The area is remarkably maintained and includes plenty of public facilities such as outdoor showers, a children's playground, and outdoor fitness equipment. The beach is patrolled during the seven-month lifeguard session to ensure the safety of visitors.

Woonona Beach can be visited throughout the year, but it is recommended to visit during the summer season (December to February) for the best beach experience. The weather during this time is warm and sunny, making it ideal for swimming and sunbathing. Woonona Beach is easily accessible by car, taxi, or public transport.
