Description
Yarra Ranges National Park is a protected area located in Victoria's Central Highlands, managed by Parks Victoria.
It consists primarily of carbon-rich, temperate Mountain Ash Forest and Cool Temperate Rainforest, home to various threatened flora and fauna species. The park faces conservation challenges such as climate change and invasive weed species, with the decline of Mountain Ash trees being a significant threat. The park also holds historical significance, and its management focuses on preserving old-growth forests and protecting specific flora and fauna species. The proposed Great Forest National Park aims to address these threats and protect a larger portion of the Mountain Ash Forest. Despite the challenges, Yarra Ranges National Park remains a beautiful destination for nature lovers who value conservation.
