Description

Yerranderie Regional Park is a unique destination that offers visitors a chance to step back in time and experience a fascinating former mining settlement nestled within a vast and rugged wilderness landscape.

This park is perfect for history buffs, heritage enthusiasts, photographers, and intrepid 4WD enthusiasts alike.

Yerranderie Regional Park can be accessed via a 76km dirt road, which adds to the feeling of truly discovering a land that time forgot. The road is suitable for all vehicles, but it is recommended to use a 4WD, especially after rain. It is important to have enough fuel for the return journey as no fuel is available in Yerranderie.

Once you reach Yerranderie, you can stroll along the main street and explore the historic buildings dating back to the late 1800s. You can also take short bushwalks into the surrounding bushland, which is home to a range of wildlife-filled forests offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape. For more adventurous visitors, 4WD touring along the incredible Oberon Colong historic stock route is a must-try activity. The route is challenging and takes you through some rugged wilderness areas, including hills, rocky outcrops, and forest. The Yerranderie silver mining fields are also worth visiting, with a bridge that lies across the top of one of the large mineshafts, offering visitors a chance to peer down into the mine and imagine what life was like for the miners around a century ago.

Yerranderie Regional Park is open throughout the year, but the best time to visit is during the autumn and spring months, when the weather is mild, and the landscape comes alive with blooming wildflowers.
