Zealandia Te Mara a Tane is a world-class conservation ecosanctuary located in Wellington, New Zealand.

It is the world's first fully-fenced urban ecosanctuary, with a 500-year vision to restore the valley's forest and freshwater ecosystems as closely as possible to pre-human state. The sanctuary is home to over 40 rare wildlife species, including takahe, tuatara, and kiwi, all thriving wild in a world-first protected sanctuary The lush forest tracks and picturesque reservoir make it an ideal destination for nature lovers and wildlife enthusiasts

Visitors can explore the sanctuary at their own pace or be led by a guide. During the day, visitors can walk amongst rare birds like hihi, while the flashlight-led nighttime tour is very popular, providing a glimpse into the nocturnal world. The guided tours help visitors spot birds and learn to identify birds that they might see around the sanctuary.

There is limited free parking available at the Zealandia Visitor Centre, and additional free parking is available 500m away in the Birdwood Road carpark. The sanctuary also offers electric shuttles that pick up and drop off visitors for free from outside the city i-SITE and top of the Cable Car. Zealandia is open every day except Christmas Day, with opening hours from 9.00am to 4.30pm during winter
