Goyder art galleries and exhibitions

The Goyder Region in South Australia is home to the charming heritage mining town of Burra, where the Burra Regional Art Gallery is located within the old Telegraph and Post Office building. This historic site has a rich history dating back to the time of J McDouall Stuart, who sent a message from this building to inform the South Australian authorities that he had successfully crossed Australia.

The Burra Regional Art Gallery showcases a diverse range of artwork, from small and intimate pieces to large and confronting installations, with a retail shop offering art and souvenirs. Particularly noteworthy is the S.T. Gill room, which houses four major works by the artist S.T. Gill, known for capturing the essence of Burra in 1847 and 1850. The gallery is managed and maintained by volunteers, with support from the Regional Council of Goyder for building and external maintenance.

When visiting the Goyder Region, be sure to stop by the Burra Regional Art Gallery to appreciate the art, learn about the area's history, and support the local arts community. The gallery is open to the public, providing an accessible and enjoyable destination for art enthusiasts and travelers alike.
