Waiotapu attractions

Wai-O-Tapu, located in Rotorua, New Zealand, is home to the Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland, one of the country's most vibrant geothermal attractions. This unique natural landscape has been sculpted by thousands of years of geothermal activity, making it a must-visit for travelers. The key features of this wonderland include the Lady Knox Geyser, which erupts daily at 10:15 am, reaching heights of 10-20 meters, and the largest mud pool in New Zealand, offering a complete geothermal experience.

Visitors to Waiotapu Thermal Wonderland can explore its extensive geothermal systems, which extend over 18 square kilometers, showcasing colorful and diverse geothermal elements. The site is open seven days a week from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm, with the final admission at 3 pm. It's important to note that Waiotapu is a cashless site, accepting all major credit cards and EFTPOS, and is closed on Christmas Day.

In addition to the geothermal wonders, Waiotapu offers other attractions in its vicinity, such as the Waiotapu Hotel, Sandara Gardens, and the Lake Okareka Lodge, providing visitors with a range of accommodation options to complement their experience in this unique geothermal area.
