Gippsland railroad attractions

The Gippsland region in Victoria, Australia, is served by the Gippsland railway line, which extends east from Melbourne to the Latrobe Valley and Gippsland regions. The line operates from Flinders Street to Bairnsdale, with services provided by Metro Trains and V/Line. Another significant railway line in Gippsland is the South Gippsland railway line, originating in 1892 as a branch from the Orbost line at Cranbourne. While operational from Dandenong to Cranbourne, the line remains closed beyond Cranbourne.

In addition to the main railway lines, Gippsland offers several rail trails for exploration by tourists and visitors. The Bass Coast Rail Trail spans from Anderson to Wonthaggi, while the East Gippsland Rail Trail connects Bairnsdale to Nowa Nowa and Orbost. Furthermore, the Gippsland Plains Rail Trail stretches from Stratford to Maffra. These rail trails present an excellent opportunity for visitors to immerse themselves in the stunning landscapes and natural beauty of the Gippsland region, all while experiencing a unique and historic mode of transportation.
