The region benefits from a climate similar to the renowned French wine regions of Bordeaux and Burgundy, allowing for the cultivation of a wide range of varietals including Chardonnay, Shiraz, Pinot Noir, Riesling, and Sauvignon Blanc. The Surf Coast sub-region extends from the wild and rugged coast of the Great Ocean Road to the rich, volcanic soils of the Moorabool Valley.
